In recent years, China's machine tool output and machine tool consumption have both ranked among the top in the world. In particular, in 2017, affected by various favorable policies, the market for China's machine tool industry began to pick up, which also led to the development of upstream industries such as the machine tool casting industry and the steel industry. According to statistical data, from February to October 2017, the output of metal cutting machine tools nationwide was 645,000 units, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year. The development of the steel industry in 2017 is obvious to all. It can be seen from various “price increases”. In the same way, the machine tool casting market was driven by the demand of the machine tool industry and it also showed a recovery growth. Although the situation of insufficient orders still exists, compared to 2017, the situation this year has been considered very optimistic.
For China's machine tool castings, due to environmental factors and other angle factors in 2017, a considerable number of scattered, chaotic, and poor casting companies were shut down. According to a survey of 15 machine tool casting companies by the China Foundry Association's machine tool casting branch, the overall situation of the industry is still rather severe. Although production has rebounded in 2017, there is still a gap compared to its production capacity. Last year, many large-scale small and medium-sized foundry companies without environmental impact assessment and environmental protection in many areas in China, especially in the surrounding areas of Beijing and the Yangtze River Delta region, were shut down. Other foundry companies also implemented peak-to-peak production according to the season. This has greatly relieved the overcapacity. It is estimated that the total output of China's castings in 2017 will increase slightly from the 47.2 million tons in 2016.
Compared with other machinery manufacturing industries, the foundry industry has relatively high energy consumption and pollution levels. As public awareness of environmental protection gradually increases, national environmental protection laws and regulations also impose stricter requirements on environmental protection. On July 31, 2017, the China Foundry Association issued the “Limits for Air Pollutant Emissions in the Foundry Industry”. Launched on October 1, 2017, it provides a theoretical basis for the energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection management of foundry enterprises. This will also urge large-scale machine tool casting manufacturers to continuously improve energy-saving emission reduction and environmental protection governance, and begin to develop in a direction of healthy competition.
The continuous rise in raw material prices has always been a headache for China's machine tool casting industry. Machine tool foundry companies are the same as other foundry companies. The main raw materials needed for production and operation are pig iron, scrap steel, resins, curing agents, etc. Volatility will have a certain impact on the sales pricing of the company's main products, which in turn will affect the price of machine tools, resulting in difficulties for some companies in the sales of machine tools.
In order to achieve sustainable development, in September 2017, the China Foundry Association and the National Smart Foundry Industry Innovation Center of Ningxia Sharing Group took the lead in forming China's intelligent foundry industry alliance to build an industrial ecosystem of “Internet + dual-creation + green smart casting” and improve China's The overall competitiveness of the foundry industry. Not only that, the China Association of Casting also cooperated with China United Certification to work out and publish the “Quality Management System Foundry Enterprise Certification Requirements” group standard, which has been widely praised by the company.
In 2018, the most serious problems for the machine tool casting industry were environmental protection, raw materials and safety. "The revolution has not yet succeeded, and comrades still need to work hard". We believe that through the unremitting efforts of all the people in the industry and the undivided efforts to achieve success, we will surely achieve better development in 2018.
